College Ready Now™ (CRN) is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide high school students from underserved communities with the resources to prepare for enrollment and success in college. By serving as the premier support provider of college preparatory services to charter high schools, CRN has the vision of helping more students pursue postsecondary education in communities where dropping out of high school has become the norm.
Students from partner charter high schools apply for the program at the start of their 9th grade year, and work with CRN for their four years of high school, until they head off to their “best fit” college or university.
The key services CRN offers are:

  • 4 years of College Readiness Workshops and Test Prep: CRN provides workshops for all things college- from help with résumés and personal statements, to interview and entrance exam preparation, to college planning workshops for parents, to tips on etiquette and professional dress.
  • Enrichment Opportunities: Students admitted to the CRN scholars program have monthly opportunities to experience academia outside of the classroom. These opportunities include but are not limited to college visits, college fairs, touring local businesses and organizations, meeting with working professionals, and organizing a community service project.
  • Community of Scholars: CRN scholars develop strong relationships among a cohort of college-going peers. In addition to the relationships they build with other CRN scholars, they have the opportunity to interact with current collegians, asking questions about admissions and campus life.
  • Summer Program: CRN hosts a week-long summer program on a college campus, exclusive to student scholars participating in our program. During the summer program scholars participate in enrichment activities and gain access to university students, faculty, and staff, including admissions and financial aid professionals.
  • Scholarships: For every year a student is enrolled in the CRN scholars program a minimum of $500 will be deposited into a scholarship trust fund created specifically for him or her. Students’ accumulated scholarship is then made available once they enroll in college to help defray the cost of their first semester’s tuition.
  • College Matching Services: With over 3,500 colleges across the U.S., our scholars need a lot of assistance in choosing what is best for them. Our college matching process pushes students to think critically about what they desire for themselves, and then provides a number of options about which they can learn more. It also gets the students in touch with colleges that interest them most.
